Anjali Mudra

Anjali Mudra is a sacred gesture of balance, unity, and inner connection. Bringing the palms together at the center of the body symbolizes the union of the left and right sides, the merging of individual consciousness with universal awareness, and the harmonizing of body, mind, and spirit. This mudra creates a calming and centering effect while encouraging mindfulness, gratitude, and presence.

When practiced at the heart center, Anjali Mudra primarily stimulates the Heart Chakra (Anahata), cultivating compassion, emotional balance, and openness. As awareness deepens and the breath becomes steady, the energy can naturally rise upward into the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) and the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna), supporting clarity, inner stillness, and conscious awareness.

To practice:

Sit comfortably with the spine upright and relaxed. Bring the palms together in front of the chest with the fingers pointing upward and the thumbs lightly touching the sternum. Allow the shoulders to soften and the elbows to relax naturally downward. Close the eyes and breathe slowly and evenly while gently pressing the palms together. Keep the attention at the heart center and remain still in the mudra for several breaths or during meditation and pranayama practice.
