Anjali Parivrtta Sukhasana

Anjali Parivrtta Sukhasana combines twisting movement with prayer hands to create openness, balance, and release through the spine and upper body. The rhythmic twisting motion improves spinal flexibility, strengthens the core, and releases tension in the shoulders, chest, and back. The prayer position at the heart center also supports an upright posture and deeper, calmer breathing.

The twisting movement helps clear stagnant energy from the spine and nervous system while creating more awareness and inner balance. The prayer hands at the center of the chest strongly stimulate the Heart Chakra (Anahata), encouraging openness, compassion, and emotional release. The rotational movement through the torso also activates the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), supporting confidence, inner strength, and energetic flow through the center of the body.

To practice:

Sit in a comfortable cross legged position and bring the palms together in prayer position at the center of the chest (Anjali Mudra). Twist the upper body from side to side in a smooth and steady rhythm while keeping the spine tall and the hips grounded. Let the movement flow naturally with the breath and keep the shoulders relaxed. Inhale when moving to the leftside and exhale when moving to the right side.

If sitting cross legged feels uncomfortable, sit on a cushion
