Gyan Mudra

Gyan Mudra is one of the most well-known and powerful mudras in Yoga and meditation. The gentle connection of the thumb and index finger symbolizes the union of individual consciousness with universal wisdom. This mudra helps calm the mind, improve concentration, and create a deeper state of awareness during meditation and breathwork. It also supports relaxation in the nervous system and encourages a steady, balanced flow of energy throughout the body.
Gyan Mudra strongly stimulates the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna), supporting intuition, mental clarity, and inner focus. The calm and meditative quality of the mudra also helps awaken the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara), encouraging deeper awareness, spiritual connection, and inner stillness.
To practice:
Sit comfortably with the spine upright and relaxed. Gently touch the tip of the index finger to the tip of the thumb while keeping the other three fingers extended but soft. Rest the backs of the hands on the knees or thighs with the palms facing upward. Relax the shoulders, soften the face, and breathe slowly with calm awareness.
