Parivrtta Sukhasana

Parivrtta Sukhasana in Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic seated twisting exercise that brings movement, energy, and release into the spine and upper body. With the hands resting on the knees, the body gently twists from side to side in a rhythmic flow. The movement helps improve spinal flexibility, releases tension in the back and shoulders, and massages the abdominal organs, supporting digestion and circulation.
The twisting motion helps clear stagnant energy from the spine and activates the flow of prana throughout the body. The movement strongly stimulates the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) through the activation of the core and navel center, supporting inner strength, clarity, and transformation. The flowing side-to-side motion also helps open the Heart Chakra (Anahata), creating a feeling of emotional release and openness.
To practice:
sit in a comfortable cross legged position with the hands resting on the knees. Lengthen the spine and begin twisting the upper body from left to right in a steady, flowing rhythm while keeping the hips grounded and the breath relaxed. Inhale when you move to the left and exhale when you move to the right.
If sitting cross-legged feels uncomfortable, sit on a cushion or practice seated on a chair while continuing the same twisting movement.
