Prasarita Hasta Parivrtta Sukhasana

Prasarita Hasta Parivrtta Sukhasana is a dynamic Kundalini Yoga exercise that combines twisting, expansion, and powerful arm movements to awaken energy throughout the body. With each turn of the spine, the front arm pushes strongly forward, creating an active release through the chest, shoulders, and upper back. The movement strengthens the arms, shoulders, core, and spinal muscles while improving mobility and circulation through the entire upper body.

The rhythmic twisting motion helps clear stagnant energy from the spine and nervous system. The strong forward movement of the arm activates the Heart Chakra (Anahata) and Throat Chakra (Vishuddha), encouraging openness, expression, and emotional release. The engagement of the core and navel center also stimulates the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), building inner strength, focus, and confidence.

To practice:

Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position with the spine tall and both arms lifted in front of the body. Twist from side to side in a steady rhythm, strongly extending the front arm forward with each turn while the other arm stays bent and open. Keep the movement active, grounded, and connected to the breath. Inhale while twisting to the left, exhale while twisting to the right.

If sitting cross legged feels uncomfortable, sit on a cushion or practice seated on a chair while continuing the same twisting and arm movements.
