Baddha Hasta Uttanasana

Baddha Hasta Uttanasana is a grounding and heart opening Kundalini Yoga posture that releases tension through the shoulders, spine, and hips. With the arms intertwined and the upper body folded forward, the gentle movement from side to side helps loosen tightness in the back and creates more space and flexibility throughout the body. The posture especially stretches the shoulders, upper back, hamstrings, and sides of the waist while calming the nervous system and deepening the breath.
The opening through the upper body stimulates the Heart Chakra (Anahata), helping emotional energy soften and flow more freely. The gentle swaying motion also massages the lower spine and pelvic area, supporting the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) and helping release stored tension and emotions from the body.
To practice:
stand with the feet hip width apart and fold forward from the hips. Intertwine the arms and let the upper body hang heavy. From there, gently sway from left to right with relaxed breathing and soft awareness.
If the full forward fold feels too intense, keep the knees slightly bent or rest the hands on the thighs while making smaller side to side movements.
